Moustachioed masterclass: Roberto Rivelino

On this week’s show, we referenced the legendary free-kick taking skills of Brazil’s moustachioed maestro Roberto Rivelino.

The World Cup winning winger had one of the most feared left feet in footballing history, and his free kicks were truly something to behold, long before the likes of Roberto Carlos and, latterly, Cristiano Ronaldo. If they were good, Rivelino was better.

Here are the two best examples of him in action. The first is sheer power and swerve, while the second, firing through the smallest of gaps created by Jairzinho’s timely duck, is a masterpiece of precision with power.
