Europe’s Ultimate XI – You Decide!
With the Champions League final a matter of days away, our good friends at Betfair are calling on football fans to create the ultimate Manchester United and FC Barcelona hybrid team.
The online betting exchange has launched Europe’s Ultimate XI, a new microsite that enables punters to choose their own starting XI from the best players on either side contesting the May 28th showdown.
Fans can use their tactical know-how to nominate a manager, select a formation and pick some of the best players in European football for their starting line-up.
For punters torn over who should get the nod, there are Top Trump-style statistics to compare the merits of each player’s place on the pitch.
With such an array of talent on display, Europe’s Ultimate XI is sure to test even the most passionate supporter’s loyalty.
Punters must decide whether to stick with their heroes, or consider replacing them with top talent in their rival’s line-up.
United fans could shun Stretford hero Wayne Rooney for the magic of Messi, while the Catalans could put Sir Alex in the dugout ahead of Pep.
Fans across Europe can then share their opinions and debate the line-ups with the wider football fraternity via Facebook and @BetfairFootball on Twitter.
And Betfair will reveal the most popular XI players as chosen by the fans the day before the Wembley showpiece on Friday 27 May.

“But it’s not just our opinion that counts, so that’s why we’ve asked football fans everywhere to have their say.”
