Michel Alves – stand down
If you haven’t seen this already, you really need to. Poor old Michel Alves of Brazilian Serie B side Criciuma makes a routine save… And then does this.
Stand down, that man.

We’ve grown accustomed to seeing conflict in Libya on the news in recent times, but not so much on the football pitch… until now. Here’s the Libyan national team, taking defeat to Algeria in the African Nations Cup Qualifying quite badly. The second leg should be fun at least!
I stumbled across this video earlier today, and it’s an insane, slightly stomach churning tribute to Alan Pardew. What makes it all the more crazy as it seems to have been made by a genuine person – 20 year old Kristina, a sweet if a little scary German girl who lives in Dachau, a suburb of Munich, and has a love of dodgy Eurotrash music, football and above all, Super Alan Pardew.
She states: “I have many friends….i like football and since 2009 i m a nufc fan -.- and yes its sometimes very boring where i live..it was yesterday…” And so she spent her afternoon photoshopping pics of herself into pictures of Alan Pardew, and with the help of some German happy hardcore and some heart-shaped screenwipes, transformed them into this…
Although that is truly one of the most frightening tributes I’ve seen to anyone, ever, the bit where she’s photoshopped Super Al pointing to her pic, with the caption “That’s my gf “, is comedy genius.
If you still want more from Kristina, have a look at her website – http://silverfoxfan.tumblr.com/ – and try not to have a seizure.
After conceding 2 goals in 20 minutes, Paolo Di Canio decides enough is enough and subs keeper Wes Foderingham with a weird flappy hand gesture – prompting an assault on a water bottle and some angry words to the management from the 20 year old…
Watch the incident, plus Di Canio’s inimitable post match reaction below…
It remains to be seen whether “League One Wes” (who’s most definitely not Peter Cech) will apologise, and if not, how Paolo’s ominous sounding “regime” will punish him…
Jonathan Soriano, formerly a prolific striker for Barcelona B, has been in good form this season with 5 goals already in the Austrian league. So when, at 2-0 down in a league game against Rapid Vienna, he stepped up to take a penalty, Red Bull Salzberg fans must have thought they’d found a way back into the game.
Too bad he went and did this…
Two Mexican footballers perform this acrobatic wrestling move, which I’m reliably informed (by the Youtube comments section) is called a Lucha Libre, after scoring a goal – know doubt to the delight of Pubcast wrestling enthusiast Mike Coxon. It’s actually pretty impressive. Rey Mysterio, eat your heart out.
On the subject of ageless footballers, Rivaldo is still plying his trade over in Angola – and, at least I’d like to think anyway, he’s still going simply for the love of the game. Here he is scoring a hat-trick for his club Kabuscorp, including one run from within his own half.
Rivaldo, you bow-legged, Brazillian bastion of brilliance – we salute you too.

Some of Di Canio’s quotes, in various interviews:
“He’s the worst professional I’ve ever seen,”
“It wasn’t only the mistake, which can happen to everyone. It was the arrogance later on when he started moaning to the others. That was the worst thing for me.“
“If he doesn’t come out and say sorry to the fans for his professionalism then he is out of my team.”
And from another interview:
“He was one of the worst players I have ever seen.
“He’s another player like the others, why can’t we change the goalkeeper? Because the goalkeeper has a different coloured shirt?
“I know Wes, he was the worst player against Stoke in the cup – he was far away the worst player, he made a rubbish performance. But I covered for him because we won 4-3.
“But what he did was not only the mistake, which can happen to anyone, but the arrogance when he started moaning to the other players – that was the worst thing for me.
“A player that doesn’t recognise his mistakes which were clear from miles away, he started moaning to his team-mates. Out there he behaved as the worst professional, arrogant, ignorant athlete I have ever seen.”
In the words of Rio Ferdinand, “raw”.
