Feeling a bit Kaka? Try these throat sweets…

That’s right, Real Madrid and Brazil superstar Kaka has been busy endorsing throat sweets – in Japan.

This clip is a mere six seconds long, but it’s enough to show you that, even if you’re on millions of pounds a year, world-class footballers are still suckers for an endorsement. In Kaka’s case, he’s a sucker for an endorsement for suckers…

The greatest goal ever scored by a goalkeeper

He was an on-loan goalkeeper at a seemingly doomed club, but Jimmy Glass became Carlisle United’s biggest cult hero of all time thanks to his antics during a do-or-die final day showdown.

Watch it, enjoy it, and keep an eye on the referee immediately after the goal…

Pick the bogies out of that! #2 Sun Hei SC

This could well be the greatest own goal ever scored. Yes, really.

In terms of difficulty, angle, positioning of the keeper, the speed of the ball when it came to him, this own goal really is right up there with the very best of all time.

It’s from the Hong Kong first division match between Sun Hei SC and Citizen Hong Kong, it’s a backwards “Scorpion Kick” volley and it’s unsaveable.

Watch it, gasp, then watch it again.

Thanks to our friends at @twounfortunates for bringing this to our attention.

Pubcast #60: The podcast that doesn’t get drunk

Just like Alan Shearer, we never get drunk. Don’t know why we’d mention “Super Al” in that context? Make sure you check out our show for the full SP.

With yours truly off for a week Christmas shopping and going out of my mind, Jim, Stu, Dan and Sean paid a visit to our seasonal home of The Moose Bar in Canary Wharf for our 60th show (yes, we’re amazed we’ve lasted this long, too…)

Listen via the player below, or the player on the top right of this site. And, of course, you can subscribe to get our pubcasty goodness each and every week via the magic of the iTunes Music Store. Just click the Music Store button on the right of the site.

We’ll be back next week with a special pre-Christmas show, featuring (hopefully!) a foosball (or table football, if you prefer) tournament between the pubcasters.

Table football on a podcast – they said it couldn’t be done. Listen in next week as we prove them right wrong.

If you’ve been anywhere near a TV or the internet this week, you’ll have seen the now-infamous “Benton” clip.

    Here’s a football-related mashup…

    The world’s greatest pub team

We’ve been talking about great (and not-so-great) football adverts on the Pubcast this week and this classic from the people at Carlsberg will warm the cockles of your heart. It features a cast of England legends, managed by the late, great Sir Bobby Robson, as the world’s best ever pub team. Sit back and enjoy…

Can’t believe that not only did you steal this one from me Si, you even used my “late, great Sir Bobby Robson” line!! Outrageous plagiarism!!

Not so much plagiarism, more working the site because (so far) you’ve not been able to ;) Pull your finger out Silver!
