Pubcast #45: Getting the band back together

    Play

Kicking off a new season of The Football Pubcast, we have a bumper show, recorded earlier this week at Henry Addington’s in Canary Wharf.

To mark the occasion, former Pubcast regulars Simon Pitney and Michael Coxon return to get the season underway, plus we meet the Pubcast’s newest member, Dan Silver (we should point out at this juncture we should point out that he’s not the same Dan Silver who runs MirrorFootball, despite them working in the same building!).

On a packed show we share our predictions for the Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two and the Conference Premier, while looking forward to the season ahead.

You can listen to the show via the player below, or subscribe to receive the show via iTunes.

Pubcast #44: Pre-season, Signings, Cult and Pornography

    Play

It was supposed to just be a pre-season pint, but we decided to record something anyway. Consider this a pre-season friendly of a podcast. We’re not at 100%, we’re not at match fitness at at least two of us have turned up overweight.

It’s The Football Pubcast’s first show of Season 2011-2012, sort of.

Normal service will be resumed in August, we promise…

Pubcast 42: Signings, Predictions, Top Four and Grades

    Play

Simon and Jim hit the pub on Friday lunchtime for a belated, and somewhat impromptu, recording of the Football Pubcast.

During our lunchtime chat over a pint we looked at the latest goings on in the world of football, and grabbed a handful of pub-going fans to get their assessment of their respective clubs’ seasons, and find out how they think next season will pan out.

    – England v Switzerland
    – Wayne Rooney’s hair transplant
    – Martin Jol to Fulham
    – Who’ll take over at Aston Villa?
    – Manchester United trio to Sunderland?
    – Simon’s dodgy mobile phone ringtone
    – Paolo Di Canio takes over at Swindon

Pubcast #40: Over, Finals, Messi and Sunburn

    Play

For our 40th show Simon, Dan, Jim and Stu paid the pub a visit to chat about the various goings on in the world of football.

The FIFA presidency issue has been done to death, so we kept that bit quite short – Simon could have gone on for ages – and instead concentrated on the on-pitch action that we’ve enjoyed during the past week.

    On this week’s show:

    – We look back at the Football League Playoff finals
    – Simon tries (and fails) to get the lads to talk about the Champions League final
    – Lionel Messi is the best player of all time? Discuss
    – Our ridiculously early (and therefore largely pointless) Premier League 2011-2012 relegation predictions
    – Dan uses the catchphrase of the season, “Stay on your feet”
    – Why Jim is shedding his skin like some sort of reptile

It’s all here in a little over half an hour of pub-based chat, recorded alfresco, thanks to some Canary Wharf sun.

Pubcast #39: Playoffs, Champions League, Finals and Predictions

    Play

The weekend is set to deliver no less than four huge finals with the Football League Playoffs and the Champions League all reaching their climax on the same weekend.

On this week’s show Simon, Jim and Lemmo take a look ahead to all three of the big Football League Playoff finals, with the League One and League Two games being played at Old Trafford and the Championship match being played at Wembley this weekend.

They also select their Champions League Final Ultimate XI from the Manchester United and Barcelona sides, and give their predictions for the European Cup Final.

And we discover which of the original four Pubcasters was the best (and who was the worst) predictor, based on the points tallies of each Pubcaster’s chosen teams.
