A big congratulations to American Samoa, technically the joint worst team in the world…until now!

American Samoa have beaten footballing giants Tonga 2-1 to record their first win after two decades of international football. Expect them to rise above England in the crazy Fifa World Rankings some time around 2013

Has there ever been a worse week for English teams in the Champions League than this one? My money is still on United and Chelsea to qualify but City look like the unfortunate victims of the group of death. Fairplay to RVP FC, if he reverts to type and picks up an injury though they are in trouble…

Heidar Helguson, QPR’s striker leading the line this term and how it could have been oh so different without Neil Warnocks man management skills.

    Read all about it here:

OK major tip of the hat to @MCFC_daniel for this one. He’s discovered something on Google Maps for the iPhone which I tried for myself and rather enjoyed. I have a feeling my fellow Pubcaster Mr Coxon will be less enthusiastic.

If you search “M16 0RA” it will bring up Old Trafford. If you then search “Major Shithole” it will place a pin slap bang in the middle of the pitch. Lovely

A "Major Shithole" according to Google Maps?

On this weeks show I mentioned that Arjan De Zeeuw, recent focus of our 90s Prem Stars feature, recently appeared on Goals On Sunday and left the show’s producers a little red faced. Here’s the clip to prove it!

    Interesting…

Sepp Blatter says there’s no racism in football. Then, a mere matter of hours later, The FA charges Luis Suarez following Patrice Evra’s allegations of racist insults during Manchester United’s clash with Liverpool at Anfield in October.

Important to note that, while Suarez has been charged, he hasn’t been found guilty – and he will plead his innocence to The FA. If he’s guilty of using racist remarks, that’s obviously out of order. If he’s found innocent, some serious questions will need to be asked of Patrice Evra. Either way, someone’s reputation is likely to take a severe dent in the weeks to come.

England win 1-0. Performance was OK, nothing special. Typical international friendly really, players not really flying, but doing just enough to get by. Nice to get back-to-back wins to finish 2011 though. Now the real work starts for Capello. I just hope he has the guts to give the young players the chance to oust some of the older players who have tried – and failed – in major tournaments for England in the past.
