    The Naughtiest Boy?

Here’s former Colombia midfielder Gerardo Bedoya getting sent off in the Bogota derby playing for Indediente Santa Fe against big rivals Millonarios, for a cheeky elbow/boot to the head combo. Remarkably, this was the 41st red card of his career, more than any professional footballer in history.

Hi excuse after the game? “I’m not normally like that”. Course you aren’t, Gerardo.

    Pubcast #96: JFT96

Today’s pubcast was recorded after David Cameron’s historic address to Parliament in the wake of the latest report into 1989’s tragic disaster at Hillsborough Stadium. We discuss some of the report’s findings, including evidence of a truly shocking and widespread cover-up, and pay tribute to the 96 innocent fans who lost their lives so needlessly on a Saturday afternoon at the football.

Whilst days like today put things into perspective, football carries on, and we wouldn’t be the Football Pubcast if we didn’t give the week’s on and off-field action a passing mention. Amongst the other topics covered were:

    • World Cup Qualifying including wins for Jamaica and Colombia
    • Some other games involving home nations
    • Steven Fletcher’s Scottish exile
    • “Hilarious” Chris Coleman quotes
    • Papiss Cisse wondergoal
    • Football league round-up
    • ‘Arry Redknapp back to Bournemouth
    • Del Piero to Sydney FC
    • Nobby Solano’s trumpet
    • Jim’s love for Steve Evans, and the latter’s 6 match STADIUM ban
    • Hot Gossip about Dan’s Mum
    • Dan #learningtodescribebetter
    • Jens Lehman’s Paralympic dreams
    • Some very, very naughty boys
    • Richard Kingson’s naughty wife
    • New iTunes review & shout outs
    • And much more quality “banter” from the “lads”

What a load of (Red) Bull

Jonathan Soriano, formerly a prolific striker for Barcelona B, has been in good form this season with 5 goals already in the Austrian league. So when, at 2-0 down in a league game against Rapid Vienna, he stepped up to take a penalty, Red Bull Salzberg fans must have thought they’d found a way back into the game.

Too bad he went and did this…

    Wrestlemania!

Two Mexican footballers perform this acrobatic wrestling move, which I’m reliably informed (by the Youtube comments section) is called a Lucha Libre, after scoring a goal – know doubt to the delight of Pubcast wrestling enthusiast Mike Coxon. It’s actually pretty impressive. Rey Mysterio, eat your heart out.

    Rivaldo… Still going at 40

On the subject of ageless footballers, Rivaldo is still plying his trade over in Angola – and, at least I’d like to think anyway, he’s still going simply for the love of the game. Here he is scoring a hat-trick for his club Kabuscorp, including one run from within his own half.

Rivaldo, you bow-legged, Brazillian bastion of brilliance – we salute you too.
